Serious attitude…

July 29, 2011

…Milly had spent some time perfecting a stance of supercilious superiority: hand on hip, raised eyebrows, looking down the length of her nose. That and the languid toying with her sunglasses should have been a clear warning to mere mortals not to approach. But of course it was all completely undermined by Cynthia Smith, who seemed to have spent the week perfecting her come-hither stare…

Some things never change. Two patterns, about twenty years apart, and both channelling the, well, the “what you lookin’ at?” attitude that seems to come as second nature to pattern models:

“Did he really say that?”
“Yes, exactly those words. He looked me in the eye, and threw up his hands, and said: ‘You dames have got some serious Attitude’.”
“Hmmm. A compliment, surely?”
“I think we’ll choose to take it as one, don’t you?”

Yes, I suspect it’s all in the sunglasses.
