Why did the sewster cross the road?

April 8, 2010

To press her nose against the window of this Brighton store.

I can’t tell you much about the store itself. (Apparently it sells clothing.) I was too busy ogling all the antique Singer sewing machines that take up the ENTIRE WINDOW.

And all the upstairs windows.

Wow! What are they going to do with them all when they are done?

It is gorgeous, isn’t it. I spent ages marvelling at that shop window (assuming it’s the one in Covent Garden – I can’t believe they have that in all their stores!) and also wondered what might happen to all those beautiful machines afterwards. It was nighttime when I walked past though, so I couldn’t really go in and ask, and I haven’t been back since!

Very beautiful and amazing to have all of them massed together in that way. Those old machines are just marvels of beauty, just as they are, but so many of them have those sweet designs painted on them, some with, decals also, I guess. The carving up on the second story is pretty too. Thanks for putting the photos on your site for us to see.
