On a roll

April 16, 2009

I’ve just listed three new patterns in my Etsy shop, all sized for a 38″ bust. Two Vogue dresses from 1955, complete with full full skirts perfect for all manner of twirling through summer weddings and clambakes and whatnot.

The other is a really unusual dress from the 1930s. An inset gathered panel runs down the centre front, which I thought would be perfect for creating the illusion (should any illusion be needed, of course!) of a slim waist:

Scanning and uploading patterns is a strangely compelling experience. It reaffirms for me that I’m probably a bit more interested in the gorgeous pattern artwork and seeing how the pattern pieces are drafted than actually making up the patterns into real life dresses. After all, it’s not very often I get invited to clambakes :)

Fly, little patterns, fly!

Thanks for the beautiful pattern! It came today. Lovely little something in the package, too, and I am totally thrilled.
